Matcha differs from other real teas in the production process. 20 days before picking the tea leaves (Camellia sinensis), the bushes are covered with cloths to protect them from direct sunlight. This slows down their growth, increases the chlorophyll content in them, causing them to turn into a darker green color.
Because its production is quite demanding and the yield is relatively small, matcha is somewhat more expensive.
Japanese matcha tea is traditionally consumed on special occasions, while in the Western world, this green drink is popular for the substances it contains. Unlike regular green tea, matcha tea is not filtered or strained during preparation, preserving many more essential substances it contains.
Due to its attractive color, it is also becoming increasingly popular in culinary arts - for example, in dessert preparation (you can add it to sponge cake or creams, or use it similarly to how you would use real cocoa).
You can prepare it as matcha cappuccino or add it to a smoothie and replace your morning coffee with it. This way, you will supply yourself with energy and valuable substances early in the morning.
Instructions for use: Pour 1 g of powder into 80 ml of hot water, which should be between 60-80°C and mix. Drink the beverage warm or cold. You can also add warm (plant-based) milk to it. The milk can also be frothed (soy milk froths best) to make Matcha cappuccino or Matcha latte.
