Rockrose (Cistus incanus) is a member of the rockrose family, found throughout the entire Mediterranean region, where there is plenty of sun. It can grow up to 1 meter in height, and is recognizable by its delicately pink flowers that bloom in the spring months.

Although characteristic of most of southern Europe, it originates from Greece, where it has been used since around 400 BC. A myth from ancient Greece states that the gods on Mount Olympus assigned rockrose the task of caring for wounded warriors, which the goddesses did not agree with. They believed that such a beautiful flower should care for female beauty, so they left the decision to rockrose, who decided to do both.

In ancient Greece, resin was produced from brškin, which was also exported to Egypt and Sudan. Later, the consumption of brškin tea became popular, which the Greeks offered to their guests as a gesture of welcome.
