Black Himalayan Salt (Kala Namak) – Pure and Additive-Free.

Himalayan salt is a natural rock or mineral salt sourced from salt mines in the regions of Pakistan and India, located at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is hand-excavated and typically ground or shaped into various crystal sizes.

Unlike sea salt, which forms relatively quickly, Himalayan salt results from a lengthy process of seawater evaporation that occurred millions of years ago. When the area now known as the Himalayas was an ancient ocean, minerals from the soil and rocks concentrated in salt deposits due to solar heat. These deposits were buried under layers of sediment and rock, and tectonic movements later pushed them towards the surface, where erosion and weathering made them accessible for mining.

Finely Ground for Versatile Seasoning and Flavour Enhancement.

Black Himalayan salt, also known as Kala Namak (Hindi for “black salt”), is named for its crystal colours, which range from greyish-white and black to reddish-brown. Its distinctive sulphur aroma, reminiscent of boiled eggs, makes it a favourite in Indian cuisine and dishes featuring truffles.

Futunatura’s Black Himalayan Salt is finely ground and free from any additives. It is highly versatile, suitable as a substitute for regular table salt, for enhancing the flavour of dishes, creating salt blends and marinades, or even for preparing salt baths and homemade cosmetics.

A Staple in Indian Cuisine for Its Unique Flavour!

What distinguishes pink from black Himalayan salt?

Beyond their colour, which stems from varying mineral content, they differ in flavour and aroma. Pink salt offers a milder, subtler taste, while black salt has a more intense flavour and a characteristic sulphur-like smell. Both are sourced in the same way from the same mines.
