Melatonin is a natural hormone that regulates human activity in line with the body's daily biorhythm. The level of melatonin in the blood normally rises each night and influences the day–night rhythm of the body (circadian rhythm).
Our body produces melatonin itself with the help of the pituitary gland, from the amino acid L-tryptophan. However, melatonin production in the body decreases with age.
Melatonin is metabolised and eliminated from the body relatively quickly, so there are no unpleasant effects on well-being. It is also non-habit forming.
The product is a dietary supplement.

Food supplements containing melatonin should be taken in line with the natural circadian (day–night) rhythm of endogenous melatonin, meaning after dark, as close to usual bedtime as possible. Due to insufficient data on long-term safety, melatonin intake is advised only occasionally.
Individuals who experience drowsiness and fatigue the next day after taking melatonin should not drive or carry out tasks requiring attention, as drowsiness could pose a safety risk.
Melatonin intake is not recommended for individuals with inflammatory or autoimmune diseases, epilepsy, asthma, mood disorders, behavioural or personality disorders, and all those taking any medication, unless they consult a doctor before use. Melatonin intake is not recommended in combination with synthetic or natural substances that have sedative or hypnotic properties.
