Diatomaceous Earth or Kieselguhr – a natural sedimentary rock.

Diatomaceous earth is a natural sedimentary rock formed from the fossilised remains of diatoms, single-celled algae with siliceous skeletons. These diatoms contain silicon in their cell walls, and their remains settle at the bottom of lakes, rivers, and oceans.

Over time, these fossilised remains create a layer called diatomite, which appears in dried regions as a fine, white to light grey siliceous sediment.

Composed of micropores with a strong negative charge, diatomaceous earth can effectively trap water, oils, impurities, or metals.

Optimal composition with 79% silicon dioxide and 14% aluminium oxide.

FutuNatura’s Diatomaceous Earth contains 79% silicon dioxide and 14% aluminium oxide – an optimal composition. Silicon dioxide is also known as silica, which is why diatomaceous earth is often referred to as kieselguhr.

Versatile uses – from pest control and moisture absorption to stain removal.

This remarkable sedimentary rock has a wide range of applications in the home, for example, as/for:

    • Filtration medium – for filtering water and other liquids, commonly used in swimming pool maintenance as well as in beer and wine production.
    • Natural insecticide – in agriculture and gardening, it serves as a natural insecticide for controlling pests such as ants, slugs, mites, and fleas.
    • Stain removal – thanks to its absorbent properties, it can soak up oils, fats, and other liquids from various surfaces.
    • Moisture absorption – suitable for damp spaces like bathrooms or cellars; simply place it in bags or containers where needed.
    • Deodorising – helps reduce unpleasant odours in bins, shoes, and more.
    • Carpet cleaning – sprinkle evenly over carpets before vacuuming to absorb dirt, odours, and moisture, then vacuum after a few hours.

The product is not a dietary supplement.
