It lives in the northern seas, where the climate is cold, most commonly in the North Atlantic and northern parts of the Pacific Ocean.

Cod liver oil is obtained using various methods, such as cold pressing or cooking the liver to extract the oil. Modern methods allow for more efficient oil extraction and improve its quality. The oil is then purified and processed to remove any impurities.
