The soap is made solely from plant oils and cocoa pod husks and does not contain sulphates, colourings, or artificial fragrances. In cosmetics, it is considered a versatile soap, as it can be used for the care of:
In the African local dialect, the soap is called Alata Samina, where “Alata” means “chilli pepper”, and the term is also used for “chilli sellers”, and “Samina” means “soap”. The soap was brought to the present-day region of Ghana from the area of Nigeria – women who sold chillies brought it there. The name Alata Samina therefore roughly translates to “soap of the chilli sellers”.
Usage recommendation: Apply the soap to the skin, rub in well and rinse with cold water.
Shower gel recipe: Dissolve half of the soap in 250 ml of water, add 1 teaspoon each of shea butter, honey and lemon juice. Heat the mixture in warm water until the ingredients are completely dissolved. The gel will naturally separate – shake before use.
