Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum zylicum) is, alongside Chinese cinnamon, one of the most commonly used types in cooking. It is one of the oldest spices in the world and an important part of Ayurvedic tradition.
It is obtained from the inner bark of the tree known as the cinnamon tree. The bark is first dried and then shaped into the characteristic cylindrical cinnamon sticks. True Ceylon cinnamon grows in Sri Lanka, much of South and Southeast Asia, Madagascar, and the Seychelles.
Ceylon cinnamon from the FutuNatura brand is grown in accordance with organic production and is obtained in Sri Lanka. For easier use, it is ground into a fine powder.
